Excel College of Engineering & Technology offered courses in the Post Graduate study programs in Engineering Design, CAD/CAM Engineering, and Industrial safety Engineering are available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This Engineering Design, CAD/CAM Engineering programs prepare students for design positions that require skillful and imaginative solutions to solve engineering problems in their specializations. Industrial safety engineering course provides the Factories Act requirements for ensuring safety in industry. The revised and updated provisions of the Act obligate the employment in industry of full-time Safety Officers who should be adequately qualified. The aim of the Industrial Safety Engineering course is to train the personnel, who already possess a first degree in engineering by providing them the scientific knowledge and orientation in theory and practice in the area of safety, health and hygiene to make them fit into managerial positions. The course is specially suited to sponsored personnel from industry.
The department has a team of highly qualified and experienced faculties with Industrial/Research exposure. Research activities at the department are progressing in the areas of feature based design, assembly planning, optimization/analysis of mechanical systems and alternate fuels for IC engines etc., About 50 research papers have been published in various international and national conferences/journals in the last few years. Three books have been published from the department for the benefit of student community.
The department periodically conducts National and International conferences to share their knowledge/Ideas through research with other researchers in India and abroad. The National Conference on "Advances in Mechanical Engineering" (ICAME 2014) attracted active participation of 200 delegates from highly reputed universities and colleges from all over India.
The department also conducts many National Level Technical Symposia to enhance the student’s technical skills and to update their knowledge in modern developments in engineering and technology. Hands-on Design contest is the highlight of these symposia. The Mechanical Engineering Association is a forum for students to develop and showcase their professional skills. Students are also encouraged to take part in awareness campaigns that have social relevance.
The department has to its credit corporate training programs, industrial consultancy, and funded projects from government bodies. These connections served to benefit students in the form of good placements, well-equipped laboratories and industrial exposure. The participation of industries in curriculum designing has helped the department to keep pace with fast-changing industrial needs. The department also benefits from the visiting professor programs of AICTE through which highly experienced senior executives deliver lectures to staff and students.
These Post graduate courses enable the students to take up careers in a broad spectrum of industries. Many of the IT industries also have CAD/CIM divisions, which increases the job potential of mechanical engineers. Around 70% of the students are placed in reputed industries and allied engineering through our campus recruitment.
